Google was clearly way over the ethical line - no grey in this instance at all.
It's the lack of policy, control over contractors that Google has hired. Frankly, Google support is extremely bad and these issues arise of the fact that the company is too dependent on its technology knowhow and misses out on managing contractors who often have a $hort term view of their relationship with Google/others.
Even some of the other big Internet companies in India have gone thru' similar issues (mostly unreported).
Google does hire gentech for Adwords :-)
I think, google has to concentrate on customer service more, basically if contractors do any mistake that should be communicated to google. that lets google know about the contractor service and performance, it might change the contractor or can do any thing because out of all Customer is who use the service and he Who pays for it
